LL.M., LL.B., B.Sc. (Psych.)
Having grown up predominantly on the Central Coast, Michael headed south after completing high school – another member of the Central Coast Grammar School alumni – to study law and psychology at the University of Sydney. After graduating with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Science (Psychology), he began practicing law with a national mid-tier firm in Sydney before returning to join one of the leading small firms on the Central Coast. After a number of years at that firm, Michael went on to complete his Master of Laws and establish Ryan & Seton Lawyers with Tony.
Michael is admitted as a solicitor in both the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia, meaning he is able to appear in any NSW or Commonwealth Court or Tribunal. As a result, he travels frequently between Sydney and Newcastle to appear in Court on behalf of his clients. Specialising in family law, criminal law, civil litigation, dispute resolution and advocacy, Michael also draws on his extensive commercial experience to assist clients to find innovative solutions catered to meet their needs in all matters.
In his spare time, Michael likes to keep fit and active. He goes to the gym more often than he’d probably like to admit and also enjoys running with the Terrigal Trotters. He is also a keen, but rather average, cricketer and plays for the mighty Terrigal Matcham Cricket Club. An unashamed member of the Gen Y set, Michael represents a new breed of legal professional – ensuring that he finds the time and energy to be involved in a number of other pursuits, including maintaining the post of Flight Lieutenant and Legal Officer as a specialist reservist with the Royal Australian Air Force.
